GRITR Intro to Competitive Shooting

About this event

In the course we will go over what to expect at your first match, how to register for it, and useful skills to work on for competing. We will cover everything you need to know before attending your first match, including:

• Different types of competitive shooting disciplines and how they differ

• How to find and register for matches

• Understanding divisions and equipment requirements

• What gear you actually need (and what can wait)

• Match structure, scoring, round counts, and stage procedures

• Essential competition safety rules and common causes of disqualification

• Range commands and what to expect when you’re on the clock

• Stage walkthroughs and match etiquette

• Basic competition strategy and skills to focus on as a new shooter

• Tips for making your first match safe, fun, and successful

The class will include a live-fire portion where students will apply what they’ve learned in a controlled environment. No prior competition experience is required.
