- ➤ An anonymous Lewisville resident claimed the first $1 million top prize from the Texas Lottery’s $1,000,000 Ca$h! scratch ticket game after buying the ticket at Deer Run Food Mart on Jan. 2. Federal taxes (about $370K) were deducted, leaving roughly $630K in the winner’s account. The Cross Timbers Gazette
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Denton ISD board secretary Lori Tays resigned Tuesday night due to health concerns, and Trustee Charles Stafford became secretary when her resignation was accepted. The board will fill the vacant seat in the May 2 election + candidate filing begins today. The Cross Timbers Gazette
- ➤ Parents and staff at Moore Middle School are asking for principal Allison Ginn to return and for transparency on the William Caleb Elliott investigation as community members push for clarity on school policies. Flower Mound Leader
- ➤ Lewisville ISD will add 10 minutes to the school day and switch start times for middle and high schools for the 2026-2027 school year. High schools will begin at 8:55 a.m. and middle schools at 8:15 a.m. to address safety and bussing concerns (community input drove these changes). The Cross Timbers Gazette

- ➤ Local permits show that the former Margaritas building (10280 W. Hwy. 29) will be redeveloped as an Ally Medical Emergency Room, according to filings from local and county authorities. Flower Mound Leader
