  • Flower Mound resident Jamie Langston was awarded the Bronze Pelican by the Fort Worth Diocese Catholic Committee on Scouting for coordinating the annual 10 Commandments Hike that brings together multiple faith communities on a three-mile walk along local trails. The next hike will take place at 10 a.m. on May 3 at the old Lewisville Natatorium parking lot—1776 Timber Creek Road.  The Cross Timbers Gazette

CRIME NEWS

  • Northlake Police Department made 19 arrests and handled 2,168 calls with 63 reports in January; one incident on Jan. 1 saw officers attempt a traffic stop on I-35W before a driver fled and later crashed—other calls in the month included reports of a gun altercation, prowling, an intoxicated threat, and a door-to-door roofing solicitation.  Family eGuide
  • Bartonville Police responded to several calls as they dealt with a gas pump problem at a local station where an attendant said they would investigate, a noise complaint at a restaurant that led the manager to lower the music, an argument between two contractors at a construction site, a fight involving five individuals at a restaurant, and a dispute at another construction site where a homeowner and landscaper were separated.  Family eGuide

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Department of Justice launched a formal investigation into alleged antisemitism on campus and university officials confirmed that administrators received official notice about the probe. More details will emerge as the investigation proceeds.  Flower Mound Leader
  • Retired Senior Master Sgt. Scott Voigt now leads the local Sea Cadets unit that trains kids in seamanship, sailing, and basic military skills. Voigt said joining costs about $350 and an annual fee of roughly $100 (with extra fees for summer trainings) and his unit has been named the nation’s No. 1 combined group seven times (in the past 12 years).  Family eGuide
