The City of Denton announced that a new 147,000 square foot Target store will open this weekend at Rayzor Ranch Town Center on the southeast corner of I-35 and U.S. 380.

It will offer drive up, order pickup, same-day delivery and an Apple at Target section—supporting job growth with about 200 new positions.

Jones, an award-winning illustrator and animator, has her whimsical artwork on display at the Community Activity Center (1200 Gerault Rd.) until the end of May.

At its April meeting, the Flower Mound Town Council approved an agreement to build a permanent home for Fire Station 6, moving it from its temporary location at 6566 Stone Crest Road to a 6.64-acre lot at 6801 Canyon Falls Drive.

Design will begin this summer, construction will start in spring 2026, and the project is expected to finish by summer 2027—responding to growing service needs.

Last month, Harvest hired Katie Markham as its new assistant lifestyle manager to lead community events with fresh ideas and energy.

Markham—a Denton native who earned a degree from Texas A&M with professional experience in event planning—will use her skills to create engaging events that strengthen the neighborhood.

At Northwest High School, 16-year-old Cooper Lutkenhaus set a national indoor record in the 800-meter run at the Red Raider Invite in Lubbock—he later broke both the U.S. High School and Under 18 World Records at Millrose in New York.

He won three races from February to March—continuing his family’s long tradition in distance running as his father, George Lutkenhaus, praised his effort and coach support.

The Marcus Marauders girls soccer team will face the Houston Stratford Spartans in the 6A-Division II State Championship on Saturday, April 12 at 11 a.m. at Birkelbach Field in Georgetown—after winning their district and key playoff games, the team led by veteran seniors is aiming for its third state title.
