EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lori Rapp explained that the $6,160 basic allotment per student in Texas public schools has lost value due to inflation and does not match the $10,800 average shown in reports. She added that school districts spend 85% of their budget on payroll — and that they need an extra $1,340 per student to keep up with rising costs.  Family eGuide

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bartonville residents are advised to clear debris, mow overgrown grass and trim low-hanging branches as spring cleaning begins and to safely dispose of old medications during the Drug Take-Back Day at Town Hall on April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Town Council approved the E. Jeter Phase II road reconstruction to start in April or May — increased new subdivision road widths to 24 feet for emergency access — cancelled the May 3 General Election due to unopposed candidates and is monitoring state zoning bills that could affect local ADU rules.  Family eGuide
