Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 2nd of May.
Good morning, Flower Mound.
Lantana resident Megan Boyden stopped her son’s weekend iPad use after noticing behavior changes and has encouraged many parents at Blanton Elementary and across Denton ISD to delay smartphones until after eighth grade—part of the Wait Until 8th pledge movement.
Her outreach has included speaking to school administrators and PTA groups, and over 40% of parents in her son’s grade have joined the pledge.
Last March, James and Helen Muench took over BrightStar Care in Flower Mound, and they are now expanding by opening a branch in Grapevine with plans for a third location in Southlake to serve more clients.
They credit the previous owners for a strong start and have hired skilled nurses (including a director with 40 years of experience) to provide quality home care.
Local restaurants in Flower Mound and southern Denton County will offer special Mother's Day menus with brunch buffets and set prices for events on Sunday, May 11 and nearby dates.
Some venues will have multiple seating times and require reservations—helping families plan a special meal together.
