Kimzey’s Coffee Shop, a local café at Hwy 377 and FM 407 in Argyle, will close on May 17 after eight years because the building was sold to new owners who plan to keep the space's unique charm — customers are encouraged to visit during the final two weeks to share memories.

Friends of LLELA will host a fundraiser at Cicada Pavilion — near Lake Lewisville Dam — on Saturday, May 17 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event features an all-you-can-eat BBQ buffet with vegetarian options, live bluegrass, gospel, pop and folk music by the Tri-County Bluegrass Band, and a silent auction; tickets cost $50 until May 11 before rising to $60.

The 5th Annual Arts Festival will take place on Saturday, May 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Heritage Park on 600 Spinks Road—featuring live music from local and visiting groups and interactive art projects that celebrate Flower Mound’s creative spirit.

On Monday, Northwest ISD announced the hiring of Dr. Daryl Porter as the new principal at Northwest High School who will begin his role at the conclusion of the 2024-25 school year—Dr. Porter brings over a decade of public education experience from his work in leadership roles at various districts.
