COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Several Memorial Day ceremonies will take place on Monday across southern Denton County. Flower Mound will hold its Memorial Day Ceremony at 9 a.m. at the Senior Center where local leaders and Army veteran Doug Peterson (an award-winning author and Congressional Gold Medal recipient) will speak, while Lewisville and Trophy Club will host events at 10 a.m. at the Tabernacle of Old Hall Cemetery and Medlin Cemetery, respectively.  Family eGuide

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Flower Mound Town Council approved the site plan for Golf Everywhere, a new indoor golf facility at the northeast corner of FM 2499 and Aberdeen Lane. Construction of the 31,471 square foot facility with 12 simulator bays, a short game area and a 4,500 square foot putting green will begin this summer and plans call for a golf instruction center, fitness center and restaurant to be added to the campus.  The Cross Timbers Gazette

  • In celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Flower Mound Public Library is featuring book displays with related titles—visitors may view the displays during normal library hours.  City of Flower Mound

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Denton ISD announced that Dylan Taylor will become the new principal of Harpool Middle School on July 1—he replaces Dr. Colleen Grindle, who served three years before leaving for another opportunity. Taylor has worked as an assistant principal at Rodriguez Middle School since 2021 and earned degrees from Texas Tech and the University of Texas at Arlington, and he is expected to build on Harpool’s strong record of success.  Family eGuide

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Double Oak officials are cracking down on speeding after surveys showed over half of the more than 100,000 vehicles on cut-through roads exceeded the 30 mph limit—some drivers pushed speeds to as high as 86 mph, leaving residents at risk. A new traffic signal on FM 407 near Vickery Park and Williams Ranch will soon be installed—expected to add congestion that may drive more vehicles into residential streets under strict police enforcement.  Family eGuide
