Earlier this month, Lewisville ISD named April Kenely as the principal of Donald Elementary's STEM Academy, Leslye Mitchell as the principal of Forest Vista Elementary, and Kristen Tufnell as the principal of McKamy Middle School.

Each leader brings proven experience from roles at Garden Ridge Elementary, Highland Village Elementary, or McKamy + they are expected to foster growth and innovation in local schools.

Highland Village City Council approved a $1,921,655 contract (awarded to Dickerson Construction Company) on May 13 for a water line replacement project that will replace water lines on Oak Street, Cedar Drive, Edgewood Drive, Lakeland Drive, Merriman Drive and Gayle Lane with 8 inch PVC pipe and add a new storm drain on Gayle. Construction will begin this summer.

Gardeners in Flower Mound may find creamy, white grubs that curl into a C-shape when digging in their gardens; these are the larvae of beetles, usually the June beetle, that feed on the roots of grass and plants from April through September.

Homeowners can check for grubs by digging six-inch holes in various spots — if fewer than five grubs per square foot are found, significant damage is unlikely.
