Denco Area 911 District and Denton County OEM are hosting a youth emergency preparedness art contest for K-12 students to learn about using 911 in emergencies.

Submissions will be accepted until July 1 and winners will be featured at the Denton County Preparedness Fair in September — winning art will also appear countywide in 2026.

A Denton man was arrested on murder and evidence-tampering charges after a welfare check on May 19 found his fiancée’s body and police discovered he had attempted to clean up the scene; he was taken into custody on June 2 at a motel in Mount Pleasant.
