EDUCATION NEWS

  • The third round of National Merit Scholars for 2025 was released and local students from Flower Mound High School secured scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,000 a year for up to four years of college—several students won awards to attend Texas A&M, the University of Oklahoma, and the University of Texas at Dallas—while 2,900 winners were named nationwide and more college-sponsored awards will be announced on July 14.  The Cross Timbers Gazette
  • The Creekview High School Law and Criminal Justice Academy moot court team won a national championship at the Harlan Institute competition—marking the school's fifth national title.  Flower Mound Leader

  • Flower Mound approved $19.2M for fire, water and wastewater system improvements after securing its highest bond rating for the 12th consecutive year+ the funding will help modernize essential services in town.  Flower Mound Leader
  • Flower Mound Town Council approved a fire code amendment today that allows EV chargers in commercial areas—limiting high-voltage stations to parking garage ground floors to help prevent fires.  Flower Mound Leader
  • Congressman Brandon Gill introduced the New IDEA Act today to require the IRS, Department—of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration to share data so that businesses must use E-Verify and prioritize hiring American workers over undocumented immigrants while being barred from claiming tax deductions for wages paid to illegal hires.  The Cross Timbers Gazette
