CRIME NEWS

  • Police arrested 29-year-old Trestin Clyde Durante after he fled a traffic stop on Lantana Trail, crashed his white pickup into a tree—triggering a brief foot pursuit—and was taken to a hospital for injuries before being booked in Denton County Jail on charges of evading arrest, possessing more than four ounces of marijuana, and tampering with evidence.  The Cross Timbers Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Highland Village police officer David Harney felt severe shoulder pain that sent him to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital for emergency open-heart surgery—replacing his aortic root with a mechanical valve and repairing his artery—and he returned home after seven days. He is now back on duty as a school resource officer and manages his recovery with a healthy diet, stress reduction, and time playing pickleball with his family.  The Cross Timbers Gazette
  • Flower Mound Town Council approved several projects, including a $1.3 million sidewalk construction agreement on FM 407 & upgrades to parks and roads aimed at improving pedestrian access and local transit safety. City officials said the projects will start soon to boost the quality of life in Flower Mound.  Flower Mound Leader
  • On May 15, Double Oak held a memorial ceremony that honored fallen officers John Mestas and Lonnie Sneed with a wreath-laying and roll call—showing the town’s respect for its heroes. In recent years, officials improved operations by hiring a new Town Administrator and Police Chief, upgrading IT, extending business hours, and starting road projects while planning long-term upgrades like the TRIP 22 project.  The Cross Timbers Gazette
  • Flower Mound Town Council approved an increase in the homestead exemption from 12.5% to 20%—the maximum allowed under state law—at its meeting on Monday.
