- ➤ Flower Mound Mayor congratulated Councilmembers Adam Schiestel and Brian Taylor on their May 3 reelection as residents approved bond measures funding $82 million in park projects and $30 million in street improvements to begin or be completed within five years—Independence Fest will be held on July 4 at Bakersfield Park with headliner Chris Janson and a Children’s Parade will start at 10 a.m. at Leonard and Helen Johns Park. - ➤ The Denton County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a free Woman’s Empowerment Program for females 15 and older to learn self-defense skills through one hour of classroom instruction and an hour and a half of practical training.
