Texas Motor Speedway is hosting a drive-in screening of the new live-action How to Train Your Dragon to benefit Hill Country Flood victims—organized by Speedway Children’s Charities of Texas in partnership with Universal Pictures.

Admission requires a minimum $20 donation per car, with gates opening at 7 p.m. and the movie starting at 8 p.m. via the speedway’s South Tunnel off Highway 114.

Flower Mound teen Brian Woodland earned the Congressional Award after doing 400 hours of service, 200 hours of exercise and 200 hours of learning work along with a five-day trip—he was honored in Washington D.C. from June 11-14 and met Congressman Brandon Gill.

Governor Greg Abbott signed three property tax relief bills at the Robson Ranch Clubhouse on June 16 — the bills raise the homestead exemption to $140,000 for homeowners, to $200,000 for seniors and disabled homeowners, and boost the personal property exemption to $125,000 for small business owners. Voters will have to approve these changes on November 4.

The North Central Texas Council of Governments is moving forward with Mobility 2050 to cut car use and offer more ways to travel — the group will work with local partners to plan better transportation for the future — to help ease travel in the area.

Four local high school athletes from Lewisville ISD and Northwest ISD were selected in the 2025 MLB Amateur Draft during All-Star Weekend festivities in Atlanta on Sunday evening.

Connor McGinnis was picked by the New York Yankees in the 10th round, Riley Nelson by the Cleveland Guardians in the 5th round, Carter Rasmussen by the Boston Red Sox in the 14th round, and Braydon Risley by the San Francisco Giants—each can sign with their team or return to college play.
