- ➤ BGCGTC announced Monday that a permanent Boys-and-Girls Club branch will be established in Denton County after Lewisville donated a former fire station at 195 W.-Corporate Drive; the facility will offer low-cost after-school and summer programs for over 6,000 youth per year by 2026 while the city finalizes legal documents with a closing date set for later this summer. - ➤ Dig World amusement park will open at Grapevine Mills Mall in early 2026. The park is built in collaboration with Dude Perfect — a DFW-based sports entertainment group — and will feature interactive, construction-themed attractions inspired by founder Jacob Robinson’s personal experience. - ➤ Local leaders fully funded the 407 Breakout project to expand FM 407 from Cleveland Gibbs Road to Gateway Drive plus add lanes, but right-of-way delays by Hillwood have pushed the project from FY25 to FY27. Mayor Montini is working with utility companies Atmos and CoServ to speed up meetings and plans so drivers face less traffic soon. Family eGuide
- ➤ Copper Canyon held a successful 4th of July parade and picnic while the mayor introduced a new Volunteer of the Year award for Ted Stranczek and the Town Council elected Jeff Dahl with police set to expand nighttime coverage—further, the council approved the Aune Ranch 22-home gated community with two-acre lots and TxDOT began five months of turn lane construction at FM 407 and 2499 to ease traffic flow. - ➤ Denton Guyer’s football season opener against Aledo High School will be streamed free on Friday, August 29 via Victory+ for TVs, tablets, computers and smartphones.
