A construction worker fell 40 feet from a water tower site Tuesday afternoon along Prairie Ridge Road in Canyon Falls—Argyle.

Emergency responders, including Denton County ESD and Flower Mound Fire Department, airlifted the injured worker with PHI Air Medical Denton to a local hospital.

Several new businesses opened in southern Denton County with Treehouse Education and Apogee North Texas starting in Bartonville, The Back Nine Golf and Paris Baguette opening in Flower Mound, Little Joe’s Ice Cream and Earl and Isabella’s Taverna in Argyle, Drybar in Highland Village, and Fort Liquor in Lantana Town Center. Other changes include Duff’s Jewelry moving in November, Goodwill Donation Station opening by December, a planned Chuy’s Tex-Mex next August, Valley Creek College updating a center in Flower Mound for fall, and the closing of Pokémoto, Peek’s Floor and Prime Farm to Table — updates reported by the Cross Timbers Gazette — across the region.

Denton ISD was named the Texas Art Education Association’s 2025 District of Distinction—ranking it among the top 8 percent of visual arts programs in the state.

The district will be recognized at the awards ceremony on November 21 in Round Rock.

WarHammer Wrestling Club will host its first all-girls wrestling clinic led by Olympic champion Jacarra Winchester on Saturday at Creekview High School in Carrollton, inviting female wrestlers from elementary through college with at least two years of experience to join.

Carrollton Thunder and school coaches will work with WarHammer to offer three sessions—covering technique, live drilling and Q&A—with a registration fee of $100.
