Three candidates filed applications for the open Lewisville ISD Board of Trustees At-Large Place 6 seat after Dr. Buddy Bonner resigned in July—Michelle Alkhatib and Madison Lopez have launched their campaigns while a third applicant has withdrawn.

Lewisville ISD will host a candidate forum on October 15 from 6–8 p.m. at the Administration Center and voters will elect a new trustee on November 4.

Gov. Greg Abbott issued an executive order on Wednesday that directs state agencies to crack down on the sale of hemp-derived products to minors—retailers must verify IDs and follow new testing and labeling rules.

The order comes after lawmakers failed to pass a statewide ban and calls for a multi-agency study to explore a comprehensive regulatory framework.
