- ➤ Flower Mound will host three family events on Saturday, Oct. 18. The Flower Mound Police Department will hold a free open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 4150 Kirkpatrick Ln, the Flower Mound Public Library is hosting a Haunted Library with carnival games and crafts from 2 to 4 p.m., and the Community Activity Center will hold a Pumpkin Plunge with a $15 registration fee in the evening. - ➤ Mary Johnson, wife of Mayor Patrick Johnson, became president of the Double Oak Women’s Club and plans to boost membership by starting new clubs—like Mahjong, walk & coffee, and gardening—to attract new members and support town events. Former president Bonnie Morrow said Mary is organized and ready to lead as the club continues traditional events such as casino night, parade, and auctions for local services. - ➤ Flower Mound Public Library expanded its digital collection on Libby by adding thousands of magazines in multiple languages including English, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Russian and Hindi. The new magazines have no wait lists—loan limits or due dates and do not count toward checkout limits for library cardholders. City of Flower Mound
- ➤ Denton ISD’s C.H. Collins Stadium will host the UIL Region 2 Marching Contest Saturday with free admission and 29 bands from 2A to 6A performing starting at 2 p.m. Flower Mound High School and other local schools will perform (Flower Mound at 3:15 p.m.) as judges announce results at 5:45 p.m. and bands earning an ‘A’ Superior rating will advance to the Area Contest, paving the way to the State Championship in November.
