COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A charity golf tournament will be held at Lantana Golf Club Monday, Nov. 10 to raise funds for nonprofit COPLine that supports law enforcement officers with mental health resources. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. and box lunch will be served at 11 a.m.—the tournament will start at noon with a shotgun start—and dinner will follow at 4:30 p.m.—with a raffle and awards concluding the event.  The Cross Timbers Gazette
  • Stand Strong Fencing of Argyle will donate part of the proceeds from new fence installations this November to Spirit of a Hero—a nonprofit that supports local veterans—to honor Veterans Day on Nov. 11.   • Vinifera Wine Lounge & Bistro will hold a soft opening on Dec 5 and 6 at The River Walk in Flower Mound — replacing Pie Hole Pizza which closed in July.   • Companies in Dallas‑Fort Worth including Congo, Colonial, Job1USA and Tekni‑Plex laid off over 400 employees after losing contracts to distribute Alani Nu and Celsius energy drinks.  Flower Mound Leader

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Holocaust Education Week begins today as storytellers from Teach the Shoah will share unique Holocaust stories at Flower Mound Public Library (3030 Broadmoor Ln.) on November 11 at 7 p.m. The program aims to expand the network of storytellers who preserve memory and lessons from the past (using professional storytelling techniques).  City of Flower Mound

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Denton County is moving forward with plans for the Outer Loop, a new six-lane highway that will connect I-35 to the Dallas North Tollway and cut through Greenbelt, and county commissioners approved $156,000 for its environmental review.  Flower Mound Leader
