COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Flower Mound is planning a performing arts center on 3.67 acres at 4200 River Walk Drive after Town Council approved pre-design services on Oct 6; funding will come from an extended TIRZ #1 estimated to generate $50 million. The center will include a main stage theater, multipurpose rooms and gallery space, and is expected to open in spring 2029 — it will serve as a hub for arts and cultural programming.  The Cross Timbers Gazette
  • The Grove Church moved from Marty B’s Restaurant in Bartonville and will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new chapel at 825 Sam Davis Road in Argyle on Nov. 19 from noon to 12:30 p.m.—the event will include a tour of the 4,500-square-foot space designed for worship and community gatherings.  The Cross Timbers Gazette

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local artists are invited to apply to design a new chair for the 'Take a Seat: Expressions of Connection' art collection—an installation that will welcome visitors at the 2026 Arts Festival on Saturday, May 9. Selected artists from Flower Mound and Denton County may receive a $300 honorarium, paint, and the chair with designs focused on unity, growth, nature, or connection.  City of Flower Mound

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lewisville ISD’s Board of Trustees approved turnaround plans for three schools on Monday; Mill Street Elementary will convert into a Pre-K campus while DeLay and Durham Middle Schools will adopt new strategies to boost academic performance. The schools will begin implementing changes through the end of this year and the plans will be submitted to the commissioner on November 21 (feedback is expected in January).  The Cross Timbers Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Flower Mound’s Communications Department received 11 statewide awards from the Texas Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors — including first place honors in Videography/Cinematography, Editing, and Library — marking a notable achievement for the department.  City of Flower Mound
  • Bartonville held its annual National Night Out at Town Hall on Oct. 7 where families met local officers and first responders to boost community safety, and the town later awarded Tejas LLC the on-call asphalt repairs contract. It plans to replace faulty radar speed signs and will host its Christmas Tree Lighting on Dec. 5 from 6—8 p.m. while new residential developments continue to progress.  The Cross Timbers Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • Allen defeated Lewisville 22 to 15 in the 6A playoffs on Thursday night after a decisive touchdown in the fourth quarter helped secure the win. Lewisville ended its season with an 8 to 3 record following a rally after a scoreless first quarter.  The Cross Timbers Gazette
