COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Local leaders restored a memorial for Ranger Bobby Paul Doherty in Argyle on Thursday morning—officials turned the keys over to veteran and teacher Kenny Grames to keep the site well maintained. The memorial stands at the corner of FM 1830—East Hickory Hill Road and honors the fallen officer from a drug raid 47 years ago.  The Cross Timbers Gazette
  • Flower Mound officials announced that the 2025 Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting will follow a new route with floats traveling west on Spinks Road and north on Gerault Road to end at the Community Activity Center as roads close beginning at 3 p.m. on Dec. 6. Groups, businesses, and neighborhoods now have until 5 p.m. on Nov. 28 to register—ensuring plenty of time to join the event.  City of Flower Mound

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Plans are in place for Chipotle Mexican Grill and Papa John’s Pizza to open at Lantana Town Center in Bartonville near the Whataburger on FM 407. Chipotle will begin construction in August 2026 and complete by December 2026 for a 2,385-square-foot, $725,000 project — while Papa John’s timeline is still pending.  The Cross Timbers Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Denton County school districts earned top marks in the 2025 Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas—several districts scored A ratings in the high 90s.  Flower Mound Leader

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Highland Village City reported that rising costs have made building rental cabins at Pilot Knoll Park unfeasible, so the city will continue with gatehouse, RV restroom and boat ramp improvements—along with purchasing a new asphalt pothole patch truck for lasting road repairs. The city also outlined upcoming holiday events such as Village Glows on November 22nd and noted that Thanksgiving trash pickup will be moved to the next day.  The Cross Timbers Gazette

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Hillwood broke ground on the 3,200-acre Landmark community along Robson Ranch Road near Pilot Knob on Nov. 13. The project will include 6,000 single-family homes, 3,000 multifamily residences, 900 acres of commercial space and 1,100 acres of parkland, with the first phase featuring 747 homes and model homes opening spring 2026 — it will also have three on-site schools and STEAM learning parks.  The Cross Timbers Gazette
  • Cybercriminals target the thriving real estate market by sending fake wiring instructions right before closings, putting homebuyers and sellers at risk.
