- ➤ Double Oak’s Volunteer Fire Department received $235,000 from the Rural VFD Assistance Program to buy a small brush truck and a slip-on unit. The funding was approved on Oct. 14 and includes an extra $25,000 to boost local fire and rescue equipment. The Cross Timbers Gazette
